English is the preferred language for communicating in the workplace. As a student, certifying your level of English with a global reference can help you prepare for your first step into the work environment. In addition, official preparation tools and books can help you practice for the test.
The importance of the English language worldwide
Did you know that English is spoken by more than 750 million non-English speaking people around the world or 1 in 4 people? If you want to work in industries as diverse as science, technology, media or international business, fluency in English is essential as it is the preferred language for communication.
Improve your English level with a TOEIC score
The TOEIC® Listening and Reading test measures oral and written comprehension of English in a professional environment for beginner to advanced levels.
Scores are correlated on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) for A1 to C1 levels. This framework defines linguistic competence in any language and is divided into six levels, divided into three groups:
- A1 - A2 (Basic user)
- B1 - B2 (Independent user)
- C1 - C2 (Proficient user)
In your student programme, a TOEIC score may allow you to:
- Validate a diploma (for instance, a score of 785 is required by some engineering schools).
- Evaluate and certify your level of English.
- Validate your level of English on your resume or LinkedIn profile.
- Stand out from the recruiters.
